Treated lumber main

Treated wood is material that has been appropriately treated with preservative chemicals with the intent of prolonging its intended use. There are a variety of different treatment preservatives that are used to help protect the wood from insects and the natural elements of the world.

Borate – A chemical treatment used in the prevention of termites. Borate treatment is recommended for perimeter structural timbers or for raised foundations.

CAC– A chemical treatment also used in the prevention of termites, however, has additional protection against the elements. Recommended for perimeter ground contact timbers as is has weather beating durability.

Fire Treated – Fire treatment uses a chemical treatment that causes the treated wood to burn slower. Fire treated material has a one-hour fire rating and is recommended for structural timbers.

Kiln Dried – Dried timbers are dried over time in large kilns. This drying process reduces shrinking, warping and twisting of the piece.
